Iodine woundcare

The aim of this program is to develop a product with the following target profile:

• Similar bacterial kill to established products with significantly lower concentration of iodine, and consequently with a significantly diminished effect on local, healthy tissue
• Rapid bacterial kill without discolouration of skin, thus with an improved safety profile
• Product colour-change on depletion of iodine, indicating requirement for dressing change
• Effective against biofilms
• Convenient to use and well tolerated

Status of development

• Prototype iodine dressing developed and therapeutic concept proven in-vitro
• Manufacturing and sterilization process validated
• Results demonstrate fast bacterial kill at concentrations of iodine orders of magnitude lower than traditional iodine-based products
